INTRO TO SPLITBOARDING 2021

 

Experience the solitude and beauty of backcountry splitboarding with a professional backcountry splitboard guide. This 3 day intro to splitboarding course includes splitboard touring techniques, avalanche awareness and rescue basics along with navigation using a map and compass. The Virginia Lakes Basin offers some great touring and shredding all over. Come ride the open bowls and steeps with a descent of nearby peaks such as Dunderberg and Excelsior Peak. Learn the art of backcountry splitboarding and gain the confidence and skills to go out into the backcountry on your own.

 

LOCATION: Virginia Lakes, Eastern Sierra Nevada between the towns of Lee Vining and Bridgeport, North of the ski resort town of Mammoth.

PREREQUISITES: Intermediate to advanced snowboarding skills at a ski resort. Must be comfortable in ungroomed variable conditions. No previous backcountry splitboarding experience required.

 

PRICE INCLUDES:

 

  • Breakfast & dinner while in the backcountry
  • Group camping equipment, such as tents and cooking equipment
  • Avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe
  • Professional guiding and instruction from certified local guides

Maximum guiding ratio of 4:1 and needs a minimum of 2 to run on these dates with these prices.

 

*Custom camps can be scheduled throughout the winter, starting in December. Snow conditions permitting.
